Week 5: Everything is Spacial: Data Mapping

For this week’s assignment, I created two difference maps using Mapbox Studio and QGIS.

The first map below is made with Mapbox Studio, and data from NYC Open Data. Granted that New York City is the hub for the arts, I was really interested how the art galleries are located in the city, as well as how the public transportation system is mapped in relationship to the galleries: the orange dots in the map represents the galleries, and darker the color, the denser the galleries are; the blue dots each represents a particular MTA subway stop.


The second map draws the coast lines (dark blue) and the country boarders(light pink). The density of population across those continents are represented in orange crosses, so the denser the orange color is, the greater population there is.
